Pool Deck Restoration Cancelada: A Fresh Start for New Owners
If you have just bought a home in Cancelada and the stamped concrete came tired, you rarely need to rip it out. Restoring it, with a thorough clean, crack repairs and two coats of resin colour, is usually one of the quickest ways to make an inherited outdoor space feel like yours.
Send us a photo and the m²What should a new owner check first?
Whether the problem is the colour or the concrete. Faded, chalky or stained stamped concrete with hairline cracks is a surface issue; wide, moving cracks, loose pieces or dips are signs of a deeper problem.
A few daylight photos sent to us will usually settle this. We say honestly whether a restoration makes sense, and our page on faded imprinted concrete explains the typical causes of the dull look.
Why restore instead of replacing what the last owner laid?
Because a sound slab with a worn top does not need replacing. Breaking it out means noise, dust, rubble and a garden out of action, while restoration keeps the pattern, the levels and the drainage that already work.
Restoration also lets you change the colour. If the previous owner's terracotta no longer suits your plans, a new tone across the deck, terrace and drive can transform the feel of the house.
Where in the house does it make the biggest difference?
- Pool surround: the first thing you and any guests see in summer.
- Front drive and parking: sets the tone when you arrive.
- Terraces: the outdoor rooms you will actually live in.
- Garden paths and steps: small areas that tie everything together.
Many new owners start with the pool and terrace and do the drive later; others do everything at once so the colour is consistent throughout.
Doing everything in one visit also means one round of access arrangements, which helps if you are not yet living in the house full time.
What does restoration actually achieve?
A clean, uniform colour across each treated area, with filled cracks and neat edges. Our reference job, a villa in Marbella, went from a faded, cracked stone-pattern drive and carport to a dark, glossy, even surface.

See how the same apron looked afterwards on our projects page.
How do I get a quote after moving in?
Send photos and a rough area via the contact page. If you are still settling in or have gone back home, we can coordinate with whoever has the keys. The imprinted concrete restoration page sets out the full process.
Frequently asked questions
We've just completed on a house in Cancelada. Is it worth restoring the concrete straight away?
If it is sound and only faded or lightly cracked, restoring it early means you enjoy the result from your first summer. If you are planning bigger building works nearby, it is better to wait until those are finished, so the fresh colour is not damaged by builders.
We haven't moved over yet. Can you work before we arrive?
Yes. We agree access with your agent, lawyer's contact, key holder or a neighbour, and send photographs of every stage. Everything is in English, and you approve the colour from sample photos before we start. A neighbour or the community's caretaker can also open up for us if that is easier.
Does the community need to approve work on our terrace?
On a private terrace, usually not, but your community's rules may cover exterior appearance, noise or working hours. Check the statutes or ask the administrator. Shared areas, such as a communal pool deck, need the community's approval. It is a short check that avoids awkward conversations with neighbours later.
Do we need a permit from Estepona town hall?
We have not verified Estepona's requirements for this work (to be verified). Depending on the zone, a declaración responsable or a licence may be needed. Ask the Ayuntamiento de Estepona before booking, and we will give you a written description.
Can we rent the property out after restoration?
Yes, once the surface has dried according to the product data sheet. If you plan to let the property, restoring the outdoor areas before your first listing photos means the pictures show the house at its best. We tell you the date from which the terrace and pool can be used again.
Our house is in a gated community in Cancelada. How do you get in?
We follow the community's procedure for contractors: tell us how the gate or security desk registers visitors, and we send names and dates in advance. Our team arrives with cleaning and coating equipment only, without heavy machinery. Nothing is broken out, so there is no rubble or lorry waiting at the barrier.
The previous owner painted it before and it's peeling. Can you fix that?
Usually, after proper preparation. Loose old coating is removed during cleaning so the new coats bond to a sound base. If peeling is widespread, we look at close-up photos first and explain what preparation is needed before quoting. Sound, well-bonded patches of old coating can stay and be coated over.
Can you change the colour completely?
Yes. Two full coats change the colour across the whole area. Going darker is straightforward; moving to a much lighter shade over a dark base needs more care. We discuss realistic results from photos before you decide. Seeing a sample patch on your own surface is the safest way to judge a big change.
Do you inspect a house before purchase?
No. We do not carry out surveys, structural inspections or technical reports. We can give an opinion from photos on whether a stamped concrete surface looks suitable for restoration, but for a purchase you need a qualified surveyor. After you have bought, we are happy to look at the outdoor surfaces in detail.
What affects the price?
The area in square metres, the current condition and the access. A deck with many edges and steps takes more brushwork than an open drive. We price from photos; our partner site explains how quotes are built. Final prices come only after we have seen the pictures and, if needed, visited.
