Pool Deck Restoration in Nueva Andalucía, Without Ripping Anything Up

Yes, a tired stamped concrete pool deck in Nueva Andalucía can usually be brought back to a deep, even colour without breaking it out. We wash it, fill the cracks, cut in the edges by hand and lay two coats of synthetic resin paint over the existing pattern.

What does stamped concrete restoration involve in Nueva Andalucía?

It means renewing the surface you already have rather than replacing it. Nueva Andalucía, the valley known as Golf Valley across from Puerto Banús, has plenty of homes where the outdoor living happens on stamped concrete: round the pool, under the terrace awning, along the drive.

Our work there follows one fixed order: pressure cleaning, repair of hairline cracks and small chips, careful brush cut-in along walls, steps and pool coping, then two coats of synthetic resin paint. The texture of the stamp is kept; only the worn, chalky top is brought back to life.

Why does a pool surround in Golf Valley lose its colour?

Mostly through sun, water and foot traffic working on the top layer together. A pool deck gets splashed, dried, walked on barefoot and scrubbed, and the original colour coat thins out unevenly, so you end up with pale patches by the steps and darker bands under the loungers.

When the slab underneath is sound, this is a surface problem, and a surface treatment is the honest answer. Our page on faded imprinted concrete explains the usual causes in more detail.

Do you work on both villas and community complexes in Aloha, Las Brisas and La Campana?

Yes, but the paperwork differs. On a private villa you decide and we agree the dates with you; on shared areas of a residential complex the community of owners has to approve the job first.

Aloha, Las Brisas and La Campana all sit within Nueva Andalucía, so the same approach applies across the valley. If you own a townhouse with a private terrace inside a community, we only touch your own surface unless the community instructs us otherwise.

What will the finished deck actually look like?

Expect an even, deeper tone where there used to be grey, blotchy wear. Our reference job is a villa in Marbella with a stone-pattern stamped driveway, a carport under a reed-roofed pergola and a garage apron; it went from faded and cracked to a dark, glossy, uniform finish.

Pool areas follow the same method, with extra attention to the coping line and to the product data sheet regarding grip and water contact. You can browse more stages of that work in the gallery.

How do I get a price for my Nueva Andalucía property?

Send a few photos and an approximate area through our contact page or on WhatsApp. The price depends on square metres, the condition of the surface and how easy it is to get equipment in, so a quick look at the pictures tells us most of what we need.

For a feel of how quotes are put together, our sister site explains the factors behind a floor painting quote. If your terrace is the bigger job, see our patios and terraces page too.

Frequently asked questions

Can you restore my pool deck in Nueva Andalucía while I'm abroad?

Yes. If you live elsewhere for part of the year, we arrange access with you, your key holder or your property manager. We send photos at each stage, from the wash to the final coat, and keep all communication in English, so you can follow the job from home without flying over.

Does the pool need to be emptied?

Normally not. We work on the deck around the pool, not inside the basin, and protect the coping edge and water line while cleaning and painting. If the pool is in use by tenants or family, we agree a short period when nobody swims and the deck is closed off, following the product data sheet for when it can be walked on again.

My villa is let to holidaymakers in summer. When should the work be done?

Ideally between bookings or outside your busiest letting months, so the deck is closed only when nobody is staying. Tell us which weeks are free in your calendar and we plan the cleaning, repairs and two coats around them. Weather also matters, so we confirm dates nearer the time.

Do I need permission from the community of owners?

For your own private plot, usually not from the community, though some complexes have their own rules about colours or works. For shared areas such as a communal pool surround, the community must approve the job, and under Spain's horizontal property law necessary conservation works follow their own rules. We work to whatever the community decides.

Do I need a licence from Marbella town hall?

Possibly. Depending on the municipality and the zone, a declaración responsable or a licence may be required (to be verified for Marbella). We recommend confirming with the Ayuntamiento de Marbella before work starts; we can describe the job in writing so you or your administrator can ask.

Will the colour match the rest of my terrace?

We choose the tone with you before starting, using photos of the house, the pool tiles and the surrounding paving. Because the whole surface gets two fresh coats, the result is even across the area we treat. If only part of a terrace is done, a visible line at the boundary is possible, so we usually suggest finishing at a natural edge.

Is the finished pool deck slippery?

Grip depends on the product and the texture of the stamp, so we never promise more than the data sheet supports. We follow the manufacturer's guidance for wet barefoot areas and can discuss options with you before starting. If slip resistance is a priority, tell us early so we can choose accordingly.

Can you fix the cracks by my pool?

Small cracks, chips and worn edges are part of the job and are filled before the colour goes on. Wide cracks that keep opening, or areas that have sunk, point to movement below the slab; painting will not cure that, and the ground issue needs solving first by the right specialist.

Do you lay new stamped concrete in Nueva Andalucía?

No. We only restore what is already there: cleaning, small repairs and two coats of colour. If your surface is beyond renovation, for example broken into loose pieces, we will tell you so honestly rather than paint over a real problem.

Can gardeners and pool cleaners still come during the work?

Yes, as long as they keep off the freshly coated areas. We mark the zones that are drying and tell your staff or manager when they can walk across again, based on the product data sheet. Pool maintenance can normally continue from a part of the surround we have not yet treated.
